A Disappointing Breakfast Leads to a Great Discovery
Good day, March 7th. Well, with the bed and breakfast there was no breakfast included. I guess it wasn’t a bed and breakfast then, it was just a place to stay. But we lucked out and took a different turn than before and came out at the Karoo Moon Motel with next to it Diesel and Cram. And Diesel and Cram is a restaurant that served delicious breakfast. But it also has an amazing atmosphere because it is filled with lots of signs, antique signs and furniture. It’s been around for about 12 years. So that, that made for a tremendous find.
Journey to Paarl and the Mountain Tunnel
So then we went on our way, and before we got to a place called Paarl, we hit a mule bakery. We’ve been growing fond of those bakeries. There are quite a few of them around, about 14 or 15 of them through the country, and they really serve delicious stuff. Then there’s a mountain before you get to Parle. It’s called Du Teutschkloof, which has a tunnel that we went through, and that was several kilometers. Makes for an amazing, amazing place.
Arriving in Cape Town – Westridge Accommodation
Anyway, so then Rona and Chris had arranged a place to stay. You need to kind of do that ahead of time when it gets to be Friday or Saturday night, otherwise you’ll be looking for a long time. With in mind that tomorrow the 8th will be their last day in Cape Town, so they’ll be flying out, so some proximity to the airport would be helpful. And then booking a second night so that I could stay in the same place and still be close enough to the airport. So we ended up in Westridge, the Westridge part of Cape Town, in a place called Somer Place, which is basically all set up for being an Airbnb. And it was really nice. We ended up with 2 rooms and a swimming pool which Chris really made good use of.
Dinner in Muizenberg and Sharing Our Journey
Then for dinner they came up with a, I think a Mexican place if I don’t mistaken, in Meusenbergh which was a little further than was necessary but it was definitely worth the ride because we ended up through many dunes and right along the water. Water always attracts, so I always get drawn to go there. So then, had a delicious dinner there. And whenever we are at a place and I have a chance, I share that with the wait staff or whoever, that especially when they can see the car, to let them know that that was driven from the Netherlands to South Africa. And most people are somewhat incredulous about it. They just can’t quite picture it, how that’s possible. So I’m hoping that that will encourage people to think outside the box and do things that they really want to do. Because they can. So made it back to Meissenberg and had a good sleep. And ready for Ron and Chris’s last day in South Africa. Thank you for coming along.
