Angola Diesel Prices and Fuel Fill-Up
Good day, January 27th. So in Angola, the diesel price is 400 kwanzas, which is like 45 cents a liter. So it’s definitely worthwhile to fill it up. So that’s what I did, because I was lucky that I could. I had heard messages around that said that they had run out of fuel. So I looked out on that one. So I was able to leave Angola with a full two tanks of diesel.
Border Crossing Into Namibia
The border crossing was relatively easy. The special paper that replaced the Carnet de Passages for Angola was stamped out and then the Carnet de Passages was signed for Namibia but also for Botswana. In South Africa. So that makes life a little easier for the border crossings to come.
Arriving in Oshakati and Toyota Dealer Visit
Very short distance to go today because I just want to make it to Oshakati. And I went to the Toyota dealer and got an appointment for the next day. But the system works. You need to be there at seven o’clock in the morning. And whatever number you are at that time, that’s the order that the service is going to take place. So we’ll see tomorrow how that goes. So at least I was all signed in, so a lot of prep already was done.
Finding a Place to Stay

So then it was time to find a place to stay. That became the Oshakati Hotel, a very good looking place. But low season and hardly anybody there. No kitchen open at this time, but there’s a lot of places around. It’s very civilized here. So that all worked out pretty well. It’s a place that is located right behind the police station.
Money and Banking in Namibia
So I’m trying to find out a new country on what the deal is on getting money. Well, it turns out that Namibia is very well advanced in that sense. You can get money just about anywhere and use your US credit cards, which is very much of a help.
Looking Ahead
So the people at the Toyota place, they were somewhat okay, somewhat helpful. Took a while to get this all figured out but I’m just gonna have to stand in line in the morning and hope for the best. That’s it for today. More tomorrow.
