Morning in Lhee
Good day. September 14, 2025 in Dwingelo, The Netherlands. However, it’s really a little town nearby called Lhee. The campsite has only been around since about 2020. The person that owns it was the farmer who owned the farm and he made it into a campsite. He did a lot of research on how to go about it and it’s very efficient — just what I could use. Most people staying there have campers the size of a Sprinter, and you’ll have as much contact with people as seems appropriate. Anyway, it was a good place for me, especially on this day because I had a lot of things to sort out. I had a dry spot to sort through things and decide what to leave and what to take.
Journey to Zwolle
After organizing my gear, I made my way slowly towards Zwolle, a medium-sized town with a lot of character. There, I visited my nephew Arjen and his family, who recently started a very big adventure. They bought a farm and are dividing it into four or five living spaces for different families, while still sharing common spaces. They consider it a 10-year challenge.
Visiting the Family Project
The farm is on the edge of Zwolle, just steps away from a nice little lake where you can swim and walk around. It’s a really cozy area, and I can see one would feel very comfortable there. The project is a lot of fun because they have to make many improvements, but they can shape it as they want. Living with several families requires everyone to agree on what happens next, and as it turns out, they have had 18 years of practice collaborating together. I’m looking forward to seeing the outcome, and I’m sure they are too.
Reflections
I was able to visit and stay there, which made for a great spot to rest and reflect on the day. More tomorrow. Signing off.
