🎧 Trip Update — September 7, 2025

Transcript:

Good day. Thanks for tuning in. This is the update for September 7th.

We departed from Vashon Island on Saturday evening, the 6th, which was an adventure in itself.

Vashon can only be reached by ferry, which has led to some interesting experiences. That evening, we were aiming for the 7:10 ferry, but we were too late to make it. The next ferry was scheduled for 7:30, but it didn’t arrive. Finally, we managed to get on the 8:25 ferry. Luckily, we still had plenty of time to reach the airport and fly away with Iceland Air.

Checking in was straightforward, and security went smoothly, which always helps when you’ve done it a few times.

The flight was comfortable in a Boeing 737 and brought me to Reykjavik. The airport, Keflavik, is about a 45-minute drive from the city. I had been to Reykjavik before but only for landing and departure, so this was my first proper visit.

I arranged to rent a vehicle for a few days, which was picked up by the rental company. Everything went smoothly, and I was soon on my way to Reykjavik.

In Reykjavik, I stayed at a unique hotel called City Hub. It has a concept similar to a hostel. You have a bunk bed, but the top and bottom bunks are accessed separately: the top bunk through one door, and the bottom bunk through another. Each person has their own space, which is quite a fascinating setup.

Reykjavik was a delight to explore. Walking around the city gave me a real sense of what it has to offer, including plenty of places to eat, drink, and enjoy live music. It was a great way to experience the local culture and atmosphere.

We’ll have more updates next time. Thank you for coming along, and signing off.
