Sleeping Through the Shock and Hitting the Road
Good day. It is January 30th. So I slept despite all that happened the day before and basically had to keep recuperating and make my way to Okauchana to the family that I had an address for and that might be able to help me get back the things I no longer had with me. There was a long drive, somewhere between 500 and 600 kilometers, but I got on my way after a delicious breakfast at the place where I was staying and got there probably about three o’clock in the afternoon, which was very helpful.
The Honorary Consulate Weighs In
It was determined that we could get some information from the honorary consulate in Windhoek. Janneke had already sent some information to him and he got back the same day, basically laying out what needed to happen and what the options were. It seemed like the only option was to get an emergency passport, which would probably take close to a week after applying for it. He included all the papers so I could fill them out — and with passport photos, some money, and off you go. So that was relatively good news, although I did not really find out yet what the emergency passport would allow. That is to be determined later.
Planning a Trip to Windhoek
I decided that maybe the next day, Saturday, I would go to Windhoek and try to get a phone and a computer and get things moving again. The property of the Koch family is a very nice place and they were very helpful and accommodating indeed. I was hoping to go on Saturday and not return there if I could at all make things happen. Well, that’s to be determined. Thank you very much.
