Good Day – January 22nd
So it’s a really an amazing thing. One can do the things that one normally only can do at home, but now you can go to a whole different place in the world and take classes online. It’s really quite amazing.
Taking Online Classes on the Road
I’m trying not to have to do these things while I’m doing this, but sometimes you just don’t have a choice. So I was successful in completing at least one class, but it took one and a half times as much time because generally it’s a little bit, you know, chancy. You take a break and it turns out that you have to start over. So you have to really stay on top of that stuff, which is not my forte, but somehow we’re going to get this done.
Then I found another place where I can take all the rest of the classes and get at least started before I leave the Flow Hotel. I have a deadline of March 4th to get this done. So that shouldn’t be a big problem. It’s just a waste of time in a way.
Exploring the Flow Hotel

So then I explored the hotel a little bit more. It has an amazing big swimming pool that I had to try out and walked in the surroundings a little bit. It’s a pretty good place.
Meeting Nico Leontas – A Fellow Overlander
So then I also was in touch with Nico Leontas. He is a person that is doing what I’m doing, but he’s doing it with a Yamaha scooter type motorbike. And as it turns out, he is from Bellevue, Washington — at least that’s where he grew up. So that’s across the street from Seattle, so to speak, across the water, really. And even though he was only there until 2017, he currently has a place of residence in Cyprus.
Overlanding Now – The WhatsApp Community
So we’ve been in touch through Overlanding Now, which is a WhatsApp group that a lot of people traveling through Africa are on. They kind of monitor and see what somebody has questions about — places to go or not go, road conditions, you name it. It’s been coming in handy, but it is for all of Africa and it’s all for people that are traveling right now.
Nico is the first person I’ll be meeting, most likely tomorrow, that is on that group. And somehow we had figured out — well, he had figured out — that we were both from near Seattle. So we’re going to get that sorted out tomorrow.
The Double-Edged Sword of Technology
It’s really an amazing world. The electronics help a lot, but they also take things away. But overall I think now is better than without all the electronics, even though it brings a lot more frustration that shouldn’t be necessary.
So thanks for being part of this and benefiting from all those electronic possibilities. See you tomorrow.
