Morning at Elliot/Koa
Good day, it’s March 20th. Before I left Elliot/Koa, I ended up talking to a few other guys that had stayed overnight but had arrived in the dark. They were driving two four-wheel drives — I think there were 5 or 6 guys — and they had been scaling some mountain passes and having lots of fun with it. They were very interested in my car and very surprised that I had driven it all the way from the Netherlands. This kind of feels good, to have people experience or find out about these things. That’s part of the fun.
The Drive to Køgstad
The destination today is Køgstad. And the scenery — I can’t show that to you except for the few pictures that you can see, but it’s really mind-blowing how beautiful it all is.
Arriving in Køgstad
When I got to Køgstad, before town, there was a riverside coffee place that also sold plants. The place had been in operation for about 2 years, and the people were very, very friendly. So that was a good time to have a little coffee and a bite.
Staying at the Lodge
It turned out that there was a kind of lodge across the street, a little bit away. It did not look like a very promising place, but I ended up staying there anyway. The service was sort of minimal, but the place was by a bit of a lake. Then it started raining, so you could hear the rain on the roof, and it was still a very excitable place. It was also a place where I could have dinner, and that always helps because once I get somewhere, I prefer not to have to drive again.
Reflections on the Trip
I didn’t really get to see Køgstad that day — that was saved for the next morning. But it is really, really very special to do this trip. I can assure you, every day, everything is new, and it is very exciting. Thank you for being along for the ride.
