September 23

Good day. September 23rd — I guess I’m still in the Netherlands. Such it is. We made this day a worthwhile day; there were so many things to catch up on, including some construction happening in Seattle that I was able to attend to from here.

Coffee at the Wolfskuil

Most of all, I attended coffee time with some of the volunteers who help keep the Wolfskuil maintained and in very good shape. It’s such a wonderful place to be staying, and there are nine or so people who help out once a week. It was fun to share the stories I could tell and to hear where everyone had been.

Different Paths

For most of the volunteers, life had stayed within the Netherlands, and they were content with that — which is absolutely fine. That wasn’t my path; I’ve spent most of my time outside the Netherlands. It was interesting to compare those perspectives, and the conversation made me forget that I hadn’t planned to be here in the first place. Somehow it all just worked out.

Dinner with Family

Later, Marcel — my nephew — and his partner were kind enough to have me over for dinner, which rounded out the day nicely.

Registration Update

Meanwhile, my nephew Gerdjan kept me updated about the registration paperwork. The registration card hadn’t been mailed yet or shown any sign of arriving soon. That’s okay: the real countdown doesn’t start until I get the export license plates. That’s when the two-week period begins, so for now I’m fine with a little delay.

Closing Thoughts

All in all, it was good times: nice weather, enjoyable company, and a chance to prepare for what’s next. Thanks for being along for this part of the journey.
