Tuesday Meetings in Accra

Good day. Tuesday, December 9th. It was time to meet Aaron from Bern Design Lab.

Accra Mall and a Visa Stop

We set an 11 o’clock meeting time at Accra Mall since it’s an easy place to find. That timing also gave me enough space to stop by the Congo Embassy and submit my visa application.

Everything worked out well, especially since there was a utility issue at Aaron’s place that caused a slight delay. It really wasn’t a big deal.

Flexibility on the Road

Flexibility is an important factor when traveling like this. You always need to leave yourself enough time, because things often take longer than expected.

Meeting Aaron from Bern Design Lab

It was great to finally see Aaron in person after video calls and ongoing communication. We were able to talk through questions about what he does, how he approaches his work, and how he sees things.

That conversation worked out really, really well.

Connecting with the Reliant Team

After that, we connected with the Reliant guys. They had just finished a 4 o’clock appointment with the BBC — their fifth interview — covering their plan to drive a three-wheel car all the way down Africa.

At least, that’s the intent.

Those turned into two very good meetings, and we were able to catch up on visas, routes, and what comes next.

Patience, Partnership, and a Noisy Car

They’re genuinely great guys with a lot of patience — one from Canada and one from Great Britain. They met seven years ago during another ambitious trip through Asia and have been working toward this journey ever since.

One thing they mentioned made me laugh: there’s no real way to get into an argument in their car because it’s so noisy you can’t properly hear each other.

No arguments — problem solved.

Ending the Day with Good Company

I stayed once again with Shannon and Bobby, and as always, it was just overall really, really good times.

Thank you so much for being along. More tomorrow.
